According to Energy Saver, about 30% of a home’s heating energy is lost through its windows. That being said, the extent of energy lost depends on the types of windows you have and how effective the installation was. The following below are types of window options for your home.

1. Double Hung Windows

A double-hung window is comparable to a single-hung window, but with one major difference. Both the upper and lower parts can be operated. This lower-level window is usually inclined for easy clearance and maintenance. Double-hung windows are the most popular option available in a wide range of measurements and materials. These are the most common windows that homeowners install as a replacement for single-hung windows.

2. Single Hung Windows

Single-hung windows are windows that open vertically at the bottom section while the upper part remains stationary. When you open it, the upper part is covered on the inner side. Single-hung windows are the most affordable window types in the market.

3. Arched Windows

Arched windows are recognized for their round tops. Most arched windows cannot open or close and are often installed above standard windows. They can also be installed in multi-arch structures with rectangle window designs on the side and arched round windows on the top.

4. Bay Windows

Bay windows are perfect add-ons to sitting rooms or cooking rooms, offering a good view of your external area. They are best seen from an exterior view and create a small arrangement in your home. They depend on low-level windows set into an inclined structure built outside of the home. Larger windows require a skilled installer.

5. Bow Windows

Bow windows rely on customized curved windows that create a circular cover along the exterior of the home. They offer an enlarged view of your front or backyard. A large bow window costs around $1,400 to $3800. These windows can also be a mixture of set windows in the middle and space left above windows at the ends.
